Victoria Memorial Kolkata

Victoria Memorial was built in 1906 to mark Queen Victoria’s 25 years rule over India. Lord Curzon undertook the project of building this magnificent building and today Victoria Memorial ranks among the top places to visit in India.

The memorial serves as a homage to the British rule in India by being an excellent example of the Indo-Saracenic revivalist style that existed in that era. Considered to be the pride of Kolkata, the museum at the Victoria Memorial displays an assortment of paintings, memorabilia, souvenirs, clothes and gadgets of the Calcutta of a bygone era.

The lush green and well-maintained garden spreads over 64 acres and is a popular place to visit among youths and picnic goers.
